Our Welsh orchards are planted with a mixture of apple varieties including high tannin cider varieties and low tannin desert varieties. Traditional British West Country ciders have high levels of tannin whereas traditional British Eastern Counties ciders are made from dessert apples. Our own Welsh orchards provide us with the flexibility to make differing artisan cider styles and adjust our mixtures according to harvests.
We grow many varieties of apple in our Welsh orchards. A few are shown below.
Dabinett, Katy, Kingston Black, Harry Masters Jersey, Michelin and Morgan Sweet are cider apple varieties, Bramley20 is a culinary apple and the others are dessert apple varieties. Morgan Sweet is an apple which originates in South Wales.
